FSSAI revises SOPs for mandatory modification of old licenses

New Delhi, May 4 (KNN) The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has further revised the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for mandatory modification of old licenses granted from the Food Safety Compliance System (FoSCoS) portal.

The food authority has issued an order in this regard saying that food businesses who have already applied for modification of license before expiry date can now file renewal of their license simultaneously without waiting for the approval of modification application by the authority.

In case, a Food Business Operator (FBO) has filed the application for modification of license and subsequently, license has expired, the FBO can file the renewal of its license even after the expiry date as per the terms and conditions laid down in the order dated 29th October 2021, read the order.

According to the said October' 2021 order, the modification post expiry date can be done with payment of penalties including three times of the existing annual license until 90 days from the date of expiry of license.

And, additional two times of the existing annual license fee (a total of 5 times)  if renewal is filed between 91 and 180th day from the date of expiry of license while no renewal will be allowed post 180 days. (KNN Bureau)
