GJEPC to organize India’s first Gold Policy and Jewellery Summit

New Delhi, Nov 29 (KNN) Gem Jewellery Export Promotion Council will host India’s first Gold Policy & Jewellery (IGPJ) Summit on 1st & 2nd December 2017 in New Delhi.

Union Minister of Commerce & Industry Suresh Prabhu will inaugurate the summit and many dignitaries from industry, union ministers, gold jewellery exporters, businessmen will participate in two day summit.

The summit will provide a platform to stakeholders, bureaucrats and exporters of gold jewellery to engage in discussions on policy change to enhance marketing, merchandising and manufacturing of gold and gem in the country.

Praveenshankar Pandya, Chairman, GJEPC, addressing a press conference  listed all the demands of the GJEPC like a comprehensive Gold Policy with one authority; reduction of import duty on Gold from 10% to 4% with a view to make fragmented gold jewellery sector more organised.

He said that the Summit would help India to become world leader in gold production and a global hub for gems and jewellery.

K Srinivasan, Convener, Jewellery Panel GJEPC, talking to the reporters emphasized on the need to have a comprehensive gold policy framework to make India a global hub for gems & jewellery and increase exports.

He said that the comprehensive policy would ensure transparency and trust among  the stakeholders of the gold industry. (KNN/AG)
