Government needs to provide infrastructure for industries to curb pollution: MIWA

New Delhi, Nov 16 (KNN) As air quality in National capital has been deteriorating day by day basis, each one is contributor as well as sufferer too. Industries too are sufferers of it.

As per the research and media reports, 41% of Delhi’s pollution came from transport sector, 18.6% from industries, and 4.9% from power generation. Air pollution from residential category, which includes crop residue, was just 3%, while wind-blown dust accounted for 21.5% of pollution.

The report said pollution from crop residue and household decreased 64% year on year in the last calendar, while transport and Industry pollution increased by 40% and 48%, respectively.

While talking to KNN India on the same issue, Manesar Industries Welfare Association (MIWA) Vice President Manmohan Gaind said that if they (Government) alleging and knows that industries are too contributing in pollution, then in that case they need to provide infrastructure to use less polluting fuel.

''Look, the fuel that they are talking about, for that they need to have infrastructure like pipe line to make reach that fuel to industries, but if the same infrastructure is available only in the few areas how one can expect industries to use the fuel,'' he said.

''There should be pipeline in all the areas so that industries can use that fuel, else they can't do it,'' he added.

He further reminded and said that problem doesn't end here, in today's era setting up Piped Natural Gas (PNG) unit for your boiler, chimneys and generator is very expensive.

''Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) needs to invest Rs 25 to 30 lakh for setting up these PNG units, which is an additional cost. The problem in this country is that they put it on industries but they don't see how industries are going to bear this cost,'' he asserted.

When being asked that government should have helped regarding setting up these things to curb pollution, Gaind replied, '' Government works only in file, suppose, if they wanted install these PNG units then they should have come up with comprehensive policy but they will put it on industries and expect them to look after it.''

''They are just passing rules and forcing it on industries, in this way the already suffered industries will finish. They have come out with comprehensive policy on this,’’ he added.

However, Gaind, eventually suggested some measures so that PNG units are others can be installed to curb air pollution like reduction in cost for setting up PNG taking up natural fuel pipeline to industries in remote areas.

''They set up mobile units of pipeline like mobile van, or make available those gas and fuel in cylinder where the pipeline can't reach. These PNG has been distributed through private channel who are charging huge amount, so this thing needs to be sorted out,'' he suggested.

''Cost of the PNG should be less than any other regular fuel or gas like coal and diesel because if it is a cleaner fuel then it should have cost advantage also,'' he concluded.
