Govt assures confectioners of resolving issues

New Delhi, Jul 15 (KNN) The government will soon resolve the problems raised by confectionery manufacturers and egg processors, the Minister of Food Processing Industries Harsimrat Kaur Badal has said.

Badal had a meeting with the associations of egg processors industry and sugar confectionery industry to discuss the various issues faced by the industry and boost exports.

Outlining her plan for the industry, Food Processing Minister told that “issues between Food Processing Industry vis-à-vis FSSAI are being sorted out on priority basis,” according to an official release.

She also informed the delegation that the Finance Budget has given a major boost to the industry in terms of decreasing excise on plant and machinery and packaging used for food processing industry. The Food Processing Minister also hoped to get more in the budget in the coming days.

Badal yesterday met delegations of Indian egg Processors Association; Indian Confectionery Manufacturers Association led by representatives of Cadbury, Mondelez, Candico, Wrigley and others and discussed issues relating to the sugar confectionery Industry. 

She also took a presentation by the Managing Director, Jain Irrigation, Anil Jain. Jain irrigation pioneered drip irrigation in India to become one of the major food processors.  (KNN/SD)
