New Delhi, July 31 (KNN) The Government has finalized and put in public domain a Security manual for private sector defence manufacturing units, Minister of State for Defence Rao Inderjit Singh told Parliament today adding that the manual prescribes guidelines for physical, document, IT and other security measures to be put in place by such units.

A list of Defence items requiring industrial licence under Industries (Development & Regulation) Act 1951, was issued vide a press note.

Vide the same Press Note, it was decided that the dual use items (having military as well as civilian applications) other than those specially mentioned in the list would not require industrial licence from defence angle.

Further, the items which are not part of the list would not require industrial licence for defence purposes. Some of the items like parts / components of equipment, castings, forgings, test equipment etc. which earlier required licence from defence angle, would not require industrial licence any more, Singh said. (KNN Bureau)
