Govt has provided loans worth Rs 236.66 crores to SC Entrepreneurs: Thaawarchand Gehlot

New Delhi, Apr 18 (KNN) The government has provided loans amounting Rs 236.66 crores to the SC entrepreneurs under the Scheme of Venture Capital Fund launched by the government in 2014.

“The entrepreneurs were sanctioned loans from 50 lakh to 15 crores in different areas including solar energy, water treatment plants, food processing and beverages, hotel, etc” stated Thaawarchand Gehlot, Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment during a conference themed “Major Social Welfare initiatives”.

The Minister further said that in 9 projects, the beneficiaries have already begun the repayment and the scheme is proving to have started the ‘multiplying effect on other SC entrepreneurs.

He further added that skill development is also underway. There are training programs at all State governments under the SC sub plan and National SC Finance and Development Corporation (NSFDC), National Safai Karamcharis Finance and Development Corporation (NSKFDC) and National Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation (NBCFDC). So far 1.5 lakh beneficiaries have been imparted the training of which almost 48.42 per cent have got a job or is self-employed.

“Over 17 lakh people have benefitted from subsidy given for loan for economic activities in the last three years under Scheduled Caste Sub Plan” the Minister added.
