Pune, Jun 16 (KNN) Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani has said that the government is open to seeking advice from experts in the private sector to deregulate the education sector.

Addressing the students at the Symbiosis Institute here yesterday, Irani said “Experts can tell us how we can de-regulate problems faced by some of the premier institutions of our country and how our students' bodies can work more effectively”.

Irani also attended the Third Convocation Address of the President at the Indian Institute of Science, Education and Research (IISER).

On the occasion, the minister said the enrolment of girl students at 30 per cent in IISER courses is low and should be increased further by encouraging more girl students. She further said that the country is moving from a service based to a knowledge based economy in which high quality science education and research is important.

The bright IISER students passing out today will pave the path for India’s progress in science, she added. (KNN/ST)
