New Delhi, July 26 (KNN) The government has declined manufacturers’ request to extend the registration deadline of medical devices from October 1, 2022.

The Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya is refusing to relax the deadline for compulsory registration.

Several representations from manufacturers and their associations have reached out to the government requesting extension of the October 1 deadline for registration of Class A-low risk and Class B-low to moderate risk medical devices.

However during a review meeting held last week, the Health Minister clarified that there will be no postponement of the deadline.

He urged all manufacturers to register their medical devices within the set timeframe.

The Minister has also directed the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation to assist manufacturers who have not yet applied for registration.

Manufacturers may face penal action if they fail to register their devices and unregistered devices will not be deemed authorised, as per the rules.’  (KNN Bureau)
