Govt to frame a National Chemical Policy soon, says Chemicals & Fertilizers Minister

This was announced by the Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Ananth Kumar while inaugurating the National Summit on Indian Chemical Industry in New Delhi on Friday.
The Minister said that this will be the first such policy in independent India which will promote research and development in the sector and at the same time address various issues which are hampering the growth of the chemical industry in the country.
The Minister informed that the government is planning to increase the number of Central Institutes of Plastics Engineering and Technology (CIPET) from 23 to about 100 in next couple of years. The Government has sanctioned 10 CIPETs and these will fill gap of skill India in a large manner.
Citing the example of growth in western part of the country especially Gujarat, the Minister said that the growth of the chemical industry is paramount to the growth of any region. (KNN Bureau)
