Govt to hold talks with pharma dept-industry on draft pharma policy

New Delhi, Aug 29 (KNN) In a bid to invite opinion from the various stakeholders of the pharmaceutical industry, the department of pharmaceuticals under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has called for a conference on 30th August.

The prime focus of the conference would be to explore the different dimensions of the sector with reference to the upcoming policy.

Industry bodies including Organization of Pharmaceutical Producers of India (OPPI), the Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance (IPA), the Bulk Drug Manufacturers of India (BDMA), Indian Drug Manufacturers' Association (IDMA), Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) will be participating among other industry organizations.

Earlier, MSME body- MP Small Scale Drug Manufacturers Association informed that the industry especially the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) of the pharma sector are eyeing at the new policy with a lot of hope.

The MSME sector is expecting special provisions for the sector to help it compete in the market.

Himanshu Shah, Secretary of MP Small Scale Drug Manufacturers Association informed that under the new policy the foreign investments norms in the pharma sector are likely to be stringent, putting a check on the FDI in the sector. (KNN/DA)
