Govt to implement employment schemes in manufacturing sector

New Delhi, Dec 12 (KNN)  The government has taken up various schemes and programmes to create employment in manufacturing units, an initiative to upgrade the sector.

The Ministry of MSME has devised the schemes in manufacturing sectors in rural India to increase production and employment, said a release from the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME).

These include Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI), Marketing Development Assistance (MDA) Scheme, Khadi Reform Development Programme (KRDP) scheme for rejuvenation, modernisation and technological upgradation of coir industry to boost production and employment generation.

The Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), which is a flagship programme of the ministry, has the prime objective of boosting employment generation in the micro and small enterprise (MSEs) sector including rural areas. 

In the last three years special attention has been given to manufacturing sectors like khadi industries, agro-based food processing industries, chemical based industries, hand-made paper and fibre industries, rural engineering and bio-tech industries, mineral based industries and forest based industries in rural areas including Karnataka.
Encouragement is also being given to some of the new areas like geo-textile, coir pith and coir composites in the coir sector.  (KNN/ST)
