In a meeting with the representatives of Central Trade Union Organisations (CTUOs) on Tuesday, Tomar reiterated that the government will consider the amendments in labour legislation.
The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Labour and Employment Vishnu Dev Sai, Ministry Secretary, senior officers from the ministry besides representatives of 12 CTUOs.
Tomar asked the trade unions to strengthen the ground level organisational structure so that maximum workforce can join for effective enforcement of labour legislation.
Representatives of CTUOs welcomed the initiative by the new government to invite the tripartite discussion and assured the government of their positive support for every initiative for the benefit of the labour.
They demanded for the implementation of all those issues which were raised in the demand charter before the previous government and on which a general consensus has been reached.
They also emphasized on regularising the work of various tripartite committees constituted in the Ministry to pay more attention on the issues like minimum wages, contract workers, home based workers and construction workers. (KNN/ST)
