Govt working towards predictability in policies to attract investment: PM

Pune, Feb 14 (KNN) Considering immense possibilities for manufacturing in the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said his government was working towards creating a talented and skilled workforce to attract global investors to India.

Inaugurating GE’s multi-modal manufacturing facility at Chakan, Pune on Saturday, Modi said that India's demographic dividend is a magnet to attract investment. He said global technology and the talent of Indian youth could together result in a win-win situation for all.

The world is taking note of India's GDP growth, which has risen to 7.4 percent and experts are now describing the country as the fastest growing economy in the world, added.

Welcoming GE's announcement for further investment, Modi said, “The GE’s programme is a big boost to the 'Make in India' initiative”. He also invited the global company to invest in shipbuilding and defence manufacturing, where FDI has been raised to 49 percent.

The prime minister said Pune which is now being called the "Detroit of India" had immense potential to emerge as a hub of defence production. He also emphasized that the railway sector could become an engine of economic growth, and also offered immense possibilities.

The Governor of Maharashtra Vidyasagar Rao, Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis, and Union Minister Prakash Javadekar were present on the occasion. (KNN/ST)
