GST Council to Meet on 21st July

New Delhi, June 29 (KNN) The next meeting of the Goods & Services Tax (GST) Council will be held on July 21, 2018 in the national capital.

Finance Ministry, in a statement, said, “The 28th meeting of the GST Council will be held in New Delhi on Saturday, the 21st of July, 2018 from 11:00 hours.”

Prior to that, a preparatory meeting of officers will be held in New Delhi on Friday, the 20th of July, 2018 from 10:00 hours, the Ministry release added.

Inclusion of petrol and diesel under the GST is reportedly one of the agendas to be discussed in the meeting mainly due to the recent fuel price hike.

In the 27th meeting, a change in the ownership structure of the GSTN was proposed, wherein the shareholding of 51 percent in the GSTN be purchased by the government and divided equally between the states and Centre.

Additionally, the Council agreed upon forming a committee of five ministers of state (MoS) in a bid to consider incentives on digital payments in the country.
