GST Council to meet on April 17 to simplify return filing process

New Delhi, Apr 9 (KNN) On failure to reach the consensus on new forms and processes of GST network, a group of ministers is expected to meet on April 17 to discuss simplification of return filing process.

The meeting is to be headed by Bihar Finance Minister Sushil Modi along with Nandan Nilekani, Infosys Non-Executive Chairman for stakeholder consultation.

The group of ministers will meet various tax experts and industry bodies to figure out the best possible way to simplify returns.

In the last meeting, group of ministers recommended that it is in the favor of retailing the crucial aspects of invoice matching as far as GST is concerned.

Currently it deliberates on whether or not the input tax credit under the GST should be provided on provisional basis as suggested by the maker of GST file process Nandan Nilekani.

On reverse charge mechanism, Group of Ministers along with Sushil Modi is expected to meet on April 16 and deliberate on the entire framework of reverse charge mechanism. (With inputs from media report)
