Gujarat to set up 300 MW wind power plant

Vadodara, Nov 26 (KNN)  In an effort to boost the manufacturing sector, the Gujarat government has plans to set up a 300 MW wind power project in the state.

In this regard, Gujarat Industries Power Company Ltd (GIPCL) has invited bids from consultants to provide engineering consultancy services for setting up of the plant. 
 
The company is looking for firms who have had considerable experience in renewable energy projects including similar wind power projects.
 
GIPCL was incorporated in 1985 as Public Limited Company under the auspices of Government of Gujarat. The company is engaged in business of Electrical Power Generation, its total present installed capacity being 815 MW.
 
It commissioned its first power plant - a 145 MW gas based Combined Cycle Power Plant in February, 1992 at Vadodara. Power from this plant is supplied to its promoters in proportion to their original equity holding.
 
Further, the company expanded its capacity and commissioned 165 MW Naphtha and Gas based Combined Cycle Power Plant at Vadodara in November, 1997 as Independent Power Producer (IPP) having Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with GEB / GUVNL.
 
Later, it commissioned 2 x 125 MW (Phase-1) Lignite based Power Plant at Nani Naroli, District Surat in November, 1999 as Independent Power Producer (IPP).  GIPCL has its own Captive Lignite Mines at Vastan, Mangrol and Valia for Surat Lignite Power Plant.
 
Subsequently, GIPCL doubled its capacity at SLPP and commissioned one more 2 x 125 MW Lignite based Power Plant Phase-II in April 2010.
 
GIPCL as a part of its green initiative, commissioned 5 MW Grid Connected Solar Photovoltaic Module based Power Plant at SLPP in January, 2012.  (KNN/ST)
