Handicraft industry sees 10 per cent growth in exports

New Delhi, Feb 5 (KNN) Textile Ministry showed that exports in the handicraft sector has increased by 10 percent in terms of Rupee from Rs. 13,460 crore during April-December 2014 to Rs. 14,782 crore during April December 2015.

Exports in the Indian Industries are falling down sharply due to the global slowdown, but this news brings some hope for the industrialists from all sectors for boosting the exports.

It is seen that Zari & zari goods exports has  grown by 67 percent followed by Shawls as art wares by 23 percent and Handprinted textiles & scarves by 11 percent.

Only Art metal wares showed negative growth of one percent.

Other Handicraft items like Woodwares, Embroidered & crochetted goods, Imitation jewellery have seen growth of upto seven percent in terms of exports. (KNN Bureau)
