Harsh Kumar Bhanwala is new NABARD chairman

Mumbai, Dec 18 (KNN) Harsh Kumar Bhanwala has taken charge as chairman of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) with effect from today.
 
Bhanwala was previously the executive director of India Infrastructure Finance Company Limited (IIFCL), a state owned infrastructure lender, in which he was also chairman and managing director for about six months.
 
While at IIFCL he has also looked after corporate planning, human resource development and credit enhancement initiatives as Chief General Manager; and held the chairmanship of the two subsidiaries of the company — IIFC (UK) Ltd, London, and IIFCL Projects Ltd, New Delhi.
 
At NABARD, he has succeeded Prakash Bakshi who retired in September this year, after which Additional Secretary, Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, Snehlata Shrivastava was given additional charge of the said post.
 
Headquartered in Mumbai with branches all over the country, NABARD has been accredited with "matters concerning policy, planning and operations in the field of credit for agriculture and other economic activities in rural areas in India.  It is active in developing financial inclusion policy and is a member of the Alliance for Financial Inclusion.  (KNN/ES)
