Haryana embarks on a tech journey

One of the major activities of HARTRON is to undertake computerization and software development projects. In this regard it looks after procurement of IT products and computer consultancy, software development, preparation of electoral photo identity cards and electoral rolls for Haryana and Chandigarh and electricity billing.
HARTRON also operates the Instrument Design Development and Facilities Centre (IDDC) at Ambala. Established by Hartron with UNDP/UNIDO assistance, IDDC provides assistance to Scientific Instrumentation Industry to upgrade and develop new designs for their products with latest technology in Optics, Opto-Electronics, Electrical, Electronics and Mechanical fields.
Towards research and development, the Electronics Research Development and Centre was set up by HARTRON in 1976 with the assistance of STQC, Department of Electronics, Government of India and UNDP/UNIDO.
In addition, as a part of infrastructure and project promotion, HARTRON sets up independent sheds for industry and IT companies. It can be credited for the flatted factory complex and STPI Office and Earth Station in Gurgaon, State wide area network in Haryana and state data centre in Chandigarh among others.
With regard to human resource development, it has a well-knit network of 88 HARTRON approved work stations throughout Haryana, a computer appreciation programme and conducts various training programme on IT and promotes skill development.
Also, it facilitates e-solutions by formulating IT plans for departments, etc and looks into software development and development of websites. (KNN/ES)
