High gold prices lead to decrease in sale of gold on Akshay Tritiya

New Delhi, 10 May (KNN) Most of the jewellery traders in the city reported decrease in footfalls on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya on Monday.

KNN spoke to jewellers in Chandni Chowk who said that there was fall in number of customers in the market as compared to previous year.

Akshay Tritiya is a holy day for Hindus and Jains. The Vedic scriptures say that knowledge gained or charity done on Akshay Tritiya is very fruitful. It is considered to be a very lucky day to start new business or venture. Many people buy gold or property on this day.

One of the jewellers from Yash Ornaments said that the sale was low as compared to previous year.

He said that Gold prices might be one of the reasons for this.

Another jeweller from Bharat Jewels said that sale was good but not as good as compare to last year. He also believes that gold price is one of the main reasons for the fall.

Nandlal D sons Jewellers said that sale is null and there are very less customers leading to decrease in sale of gold ornaments.

Apart from Delhi, the other cities of the country too saw a decrease in sale of the yellow metal. (KNN Bureau)
