IDBI's Deputy Managing Director MO Rego said the bank is set to expand its branch network to 2,000 by the end of the current year from 1,740 now, besides rolling out e-huts to provide services to people in rural areas.
He was inaugurating two more branches in Goa’s Candolim and Chinchim, taking the total to eight in the state.
Rego said the newly opened branches are in line with the bank's strategy to strengthen its home and MSME loan portfolio in the state.
The bank has also been extending support to small and medium enterprises in the region, and the lending to this segment rose 48 per cent, he said. IDBI focuses on retail banking, predominantly financing housing, automobile, education and MSMEs. It is slowly shifting focus to the corporate sector. (KNN Bureau)
