IIP's vision document 2024 focuses on export promotion

Mumbai, May 16 (KNN) The Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP) has launched its vision document 2024 to focus on export promotion, upgradation of packaging education by introducing B. Tech & M. Tech and enhanced focus on packaging research.

It launched the document during the Golden Jubilee celebrations organised in Mumbai.

Director of IIP, Dr. NC Saha said that IIP has indeed made significant contribution towards packaging education and research in India. 

"Our PG Diploma in the last 30 years has produced more than 3000 students, who are placed today in the leading FMCG companies in India and abroad. Our vision 2024 is to focus on export promotion, upgradation of packaging education by introducing B. Tech & M. Tech and enhanced focus on packaging research," he said.

IIP will soon be acting as a nodal organisation in country to provide all kinds of advisory services for domestic and export market.

In an official release, it said, "Packaging being one of the largest and diversified sectors with an average growth of 15% and by the year 2020 we expect a turnover USD 28 Billion from packaging."

Ministry of Commerce & Industry is proposing to the Government of India to recognise Indian Institute of Packaging as Institute of National Importance (INI) for the contribution it is making towards packaging careers and meeting up with the objectives set in their Vision 2024.

Indian Institute of Packaging is second in the world, besides USA, to start two years Post Graduate Diploma in Packaging. IIP has linkages with International organisations and is a founder member of the Asian Packaging Federation (APF); member of the Institute of Packaging Professionals (IOPP), USA the Institute of Packaging (IOP), UK; Technical Association of Pulp and Paper Industry (TAPPI), USA and the World Packaging Organisation (WPO), said the release. (KNN Bureau)
