In-principle approval given for setting up 4 new NIDs

New Delhi, May 23 (KNN) Government has given in-principle approval for setting up of four new National Institute of Designings (NIDs) at Hyderabad, Goa, Varanasi and Jaipur.

In a tweet, DIPP India wrote, “In principle approval has been given by CIM for opening of 4 more new NIDs at Hyderabad, Goa, Varanasi and Jaipur.”

With the approval of Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance, a total of 358 posts have been created for 04 new NIDs, DIPP added.

In this regard, the DIPP said, and MoU has been signed with NBCC for undertaking construction of the new NIDs. NBCC has been awarded contract for construction of new NIDs at Kurukshetra, Bhopal and Jorhat.

Process of selection for the posts of Director at new NIDs has been initiated, DIPP wrote.

The Commerce & Industries Ministry tweeted, “To make India a hub for world class designing, 4 new National Institutes of Design to be set up in Hyderabad, Varanasi, Goa & Jaipur.”

Commerce & Industries Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that in Vijayawada, NID was started in 2015, meanwhile a land has been identified for a permanent campus in Amaravati. (KNN Bureau)
