Increase in toll fare of Expressway from April 1 adds to fuel hike woes for businesses

New Delhi, Mar 31 (KNN) India saw its latest fuel hike on Thursday which has put a hole in the pockets of general public as well as businesses. The increase in toll of Delhi-Meerut Expressway and several other expressways from 1st April will add on to the pressure faced by common man and small businesses.

According to a notice by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), toll price for Delhi-Meerut Expressway will increase by at least 10 per cent from 1st April, 2022.

For other toll plaza at the Kherki Daula toll, located on the Delhi-Jaipur highway will increase by 14 per cent, and Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway will increase the toll fare by 8-9 per cent. 

For light motor vehicles the toll tax from Sarai Kale Khan till the end of it at the Kashi will cost Rs 155 which accounts for an increase by Rs 15. The new rate from Sarai Kale Khan to Rasoolpur Sikrod plaza will be Rs 100 and Rs 130 to go to Bhojpur, said NHAI.

Light motor vehicles from Indirapuram will have to pay toll of Rs 105 till Kashi, Rs 80 to Bhojpur and Rs 55 to Rasoolpur Sikrod.

The plan to collect toll from commuters on the 59.77 km Delhi-Meerut Expressway (DME) was put on hold since the last three months and the authority has finally decided to start the collection from 1st April. (KNN Bureau)
