Index of Industrial Production jumps by 13.6 per cent in June 2021

New Delhi, Aug 13 (KNN) The Index of Industrial Production (IIP), saw a year-on-year growth of 13.6 per cent in June, said a data released by the Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation (MoSPI).

For the month of June 2021, the Quick Estimates of Index of Industrial Production (IIP) with base 2011-12 stands at 122.6, the data said on Thursday.

The Indices of Industrial Production for the Mining, Manufacturing and Electricity sectors for June 2021 stand at 105.5, 121.0 and 169.1 respectively.

These Quick Estimates will undergo revision in subsequent releases as per the revision policy of IIP.

As per Use-based classification, the indices stand at 122.4 for Primary Goods, 80.2 for Capital Goods, 132.6 for Intermediate Goods and 136.8 for Infrastructure/ Construction Goods for June 2021. Further, the indices for Consumer durables and Consumer non-durables stand at 101.7 and 140.8 respectively for June 2021.

The Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation said that the growth rates over the corresponding period of the previous year are to be interpreted considering the unusual circumstances on account of the COVID 19 pandemic since March 2020.

Along with the Quick Estimates of IIP for the month of June 2021, the indices for May 2021 have undergone the first revision and those for March 2021 have undergone the final revision in light of the updated data received from the source agencies. The Quick Estimates for June 2021, the first revision for May 2021 and the final revision for March 2021 have been compiled at weighted response rates of 90 per cent, 92 per cent and 94 per cent respectively.
