India Carpet Expo beginning in national capital on March-12

New Delhi, Mar 10 (KNN) With the carpet fair becoming more famous worldwide, the Carpet Export Promotion Council (CEPC) is organizing the 27th Edition of India Carpet Expo in the national capital showcasing handmade carpets and other floor coverings from March 12-15.
“This Fair has become a popular destination worldwide for Handmade Carpets and other Floor Coverings, envisaging unique business oriented platform amongst the Handmade Carpet buyers, Importers, Indian Carpet Manufacturers and exporters, as well,” CEPC said in a notification.
This time, the Carpet Council is having more than 250 reputed manufacturer exporters from all over India including UP, Rajasthan, Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, etc.
“It is expected that around 350 Overseas Carpet Buyers, from 50 countries including USA, Germany, France, UK, Turkey, Brazil, China Canada, Denmark, Japan, Korea, European Countries etc shall be visiting this Expo to generate business with Indian Handmade Carpet Exporters / Manufacturers,” CEPC said.
This will ultimately benefit over millions of weavers / artisans employed in this highly labour intensive rural based MSME cottage industry, it added.
The Indian Handmade carpet Industry, is an age old and has made significant strides in the recent past. The Industry is highly labour intensive and provides employment to about 2 million of workers directly and indirectly in the rural areas especially women in their homes.
The Handmade Carpet Industry provides extra and alternate occupation to the farmers and others at their homes.
In April-November 1013-14, India’s exports of handmade carpets and other floor coverings were at USD 1092.89 million. (KNN/SD)
