India's carpet exports up by 5%

New Delhi, Nov 11 (KNN) Carpet exports from India have grown by 5 per cent to USD 73.5 million in September.
During the same period last year, the exports were at USD 69.98 million, according to a media report quoting the Carpet Export Promotion Council (CEPC).
While demands from emerging markets like China, Africa and Latin America have increased, demands from the West have slowed down.
The export of carpet was at USD 530 million in April-September 2013-14.
The sector employs over a million people and the main carpet belts of the country are Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, etc. (KNN/SD)
