India’s Technical Textiles Industry Records Rs 3,420 Crore Trade Surplus in FY26: MoS

New Delhi, Jul 29 (KNN) The domestic technical textiles industry recorded a net trade surplus of Rs. 3,420.20 crore in FY 2025-26, with exports at Rs. 29,217.60 crore and imports at Rs. 25,797.40 crore.

The information was provided by Minister of State for Textiles Pabitra Margherita in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha.

The Ministry of Textiles launched the National Technical Textiles Mission (NTTM) in 2020 to promote the technical textiles sector. Under its Promotion and Market Development component, the Ministry has organised or participated in 47 national and international conferences.

The NTTM covers the development and commercialisation of technical textiles, including agro-textiles, geo-textiles, medical textiles, industrial textiles, protective textiles and sportech. It also promotes awareness of technical textiles through workshops, conferences, exhibitions and skill development programmes.

Various user Ministries, Departments and State Governments have also been advised to consider mandatory use of technical textile products in specified applications, wherever feasible, to support domestic demand.

The Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for Textiles includes technical textiles as a focus segment. The scheme aims to address gaps in the man-made fibre and technical textiles value chains and support investment, production capacity, technology adoption and export competitiveness.
