International Conference on 'Skilling in schools'

The Chief Guest on the occasion will be Vice President of India, M Hamid Ansari.
Sessions during the event will cover key topics such as – Global Perspective: School skilling model in different countries and relevance in India; followed by a panel discussion on :The big connect: building strategies for a new skill ecosystem.
Earlier, identifying the need to introduce skill training and development domain for various vocational courses, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has proposed to join hand with the private institutes to provide skill competency based vocational courses and act as its ‘Skill Knowledge Provider’.
Further, to meet the enormous demand for skilled manpower in the country, the Board has invited bids from various organizations, to provide the skills training to school students.
It sought support from institutes, organizations, engineering colleges, management institutes, hospitals, nursing homes, ITIs companies, firms and polytechnics engaged in providing training.

The Board has approximately 14,800 schools affiliated with it including 150 schools in twenty one countries.
The prime focus of the Board is - prescription of suitable curriculum for its various schemes of examination in both academic and vocational; regularly updating the pedagogical skills of the teachers and administrators by conducting in-service training programme and workshops; setting norms for affiliation of institutions for the purpose of public examination and; prescribing as well as updating the course of instructions to raise the academic standards in the country.
