International Water Convention to be held from April 20-22

New Delhi, Apr 13 (KNN) With a view to identifying the challenges in ensuring adequate quantities of acceptable quality of water and seeking possible solutions, an international water convention will be held here next week.

Organised by the Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) in association with the Ministry of Water Resources River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Government of India, the 3rd India Water Forum (IWF) is scheduled to be held from April 20-22 at India Habitat Centre here.

Considering the interlinkage between water security and economic prosperity of the country, the theme for 3rd India Water Forum has been selected as “Water for Sustainability: Towards Development and Prosperity”, an official release said.

The forum which will be inaugurated by Minister of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Uma Bharati aims to identify challenges related to ensuring the adequate quantities of acceptable quality water, which may be acting as bottlenecks for rapid and sustainable socio-economic development of the country.

The event will see the participation of several government officials, policy makers,

national and international organizations, researchers, scientists, academicians, water users (Urban and Rural), corporates and business communities, NGOs, Pani Panchayats, water user associations, community organizations and students. (KNN Bureau)
