New Delhi, Dec 23 (KNN)  With an intention to encourage the innovation and management of intellectual property portfolio, the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks (CGPDTM) will be conferring the National Intellectual Property (IP) Awards on Indian industry both private and public sector, as well as firms and societies.

The efforts to utilise IPRs will also be taken into consideration while deciding on the award winners.

The objective of the awards is to recognise and reward creators and innovators of IP who have contributed to harnessing the country’s intellectual capital and creating an eco-system that boosts creativity and innovation, said the CGPDTM.

The awards will be presented at an event in Delhi to be organised by the Intellectual Property Office (IPO) in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

“These awards will not be given solely on the basis of number of Intellectual Property Rights registered/granted. The utilisation of such IPRs as a strategic tool in commerce and industry, along with their contribution to the society at large, will be taken into consideration,” it said.

In this context, the government is inviting applications from owners and innovators of property, which has contributed towards the mankind at large and towards the socio-economic development of the country and specific communities in particular.  (KNN/ST)
