Itra & Sugandhi mela to promote traditional oil

New Delhi, Sept 27 (KNN) With an aim to create awareness about the traditional Itra and importance of essential oil for health care, the Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation Ltd (DTTDC) is organising a three-day festival on essential oils.

Itra and Sugandhi mela an annual event with the technical assistance from Fragrance and Flavour Development Centre (FFDC) is scheduled to be held from October-10 to 12 at Janakpuri Dilli Haat.

The festival will highlight the ancient and rich heritage of India in the field of natural perfumes and essential oils.

A demonstration of aromatherapy and essential oil will also be highlighted apart from the sale of merchandise related to Itra and Sugandhi.

The event will feature knowledge programmes on Itra and Sugandhi such as a lecture on aromatherapy, quiz for children and adults, live demonstration of rose water distillation and demo and chance to learn the art of agarbatti and dhoopbatti making.

It will also feature sale and practical demonstration of Kuppi (handmade leather bottle) making, sale and display of natural essential oils, competition of itra, sugandhi, wooden boxes and velvet boxes, used for perfumes in traditional bottles.

Over 50,000 people visited the last edition of Itra and Sugandhin Festival.  (KNN/ST)
