Jaitley releases CAIT's ‘Less Cash’ campaign road map for promoting digital payment

New Delhi, July 8 (KNN) With the view to make India a cash less economy, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has released 'less cash’ campaign road map of the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) for promoting digital payment across the country.

While releasing the less cash road map of CAIT, Jaitley stressed upon the need for eradication of shadow economy and opined that more usage of digital payments will bring more transparency and accountability.

He said it would also lead to further growth in GDP and economy. Black Money is a plague for the economy and needs to be weeded out from the system.

According to an official statement, CAIT has decided to conduct an aggressive campaign for next 40 days and observe forthcoming 15th August as Less Cash Day all over the country.

During its campaign, CAIT will organise Seminars, Conferences, Round Table and Workshops in different states of the country emphasizing the need of adoption of electronic payments as mode of payment among trading community.

The copies of CAIT's less cash roadmap will be submitted to Union Ministers, Chief Ministers, Finance Ministers of all States, Senior Officials of Union & State Governments, Leaders of all political parties and MPs of both Lok Sabha & Rajya Sabha. The CAIT will also use social media as a tool for percolation of the campaign message down the line across the Country. Beside traders, the CAIT also intend to rope in Farmers, Transporters, SMEs, Hawkers, Consumers, Self-employed Groups, Women Entrepreneur & other sections in its campaign.

Bhartia, National President and Praveen Khandelwal, Secretary General of the CAIT said that, “We are committed to pursue our vision for promotion of Less Cash system in trade & commerce which will enable India to see double digit growth, it is critical for its largest community of self-employed, small & medium business owners to adopt and use modern means of technology".

They urged the Government to make specific rules & regulation for e-commerce in India and bring a policy to provide incentives like tax benefits etc for encouraging people to use electronic payments, added both trade leaders. (KNN/ AR)
