Jaitley to hold security dialogue with Japan on defence manufacturing through Corporates-MSMEs

New Delhi, Sept 5 (KNN) The outgoing Defence Minister Arun Jaitley will be holding discussions with Japan along the lines of strategic partnership model for manufacturing in the defence sector through the Corporates as well as the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

Jaitley informed that despite the Cabinet reshuffle and Nirmala Sitharaman being appointed as the new defence minister, Jaitley will be participating in the discussions with Japan till Sitharaman assumes the office.

The talk between India and Japan is being seen as an important pending initiative under which the two countries will explore ways to facilitate a vibrant defence manufacturing ecosystem in the country through involvement of major Indian corporates as well as the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

The Minister further informed that the dialogue is essential for both the countries both in terms of cooperation and for defence manufacturing partnership.

Also the security dialogue is essential as the Japanese Prime Minister is scheduled to visit the country soon, the Minister informed. (KNN/ DA)
