Jamshedpur MP suggests Parliamentary Committee to reduce import on steel

Jamshedpur, May 7 (KNN) Attending the Consultative (Parliamentary) Committee of the union steel ministry at Himachal Pradesh, Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahato has suggested to reduce import duty on steel for increasing its availability for MSMEs in the domestic market. 

He highlighted the impact of the rising steel prices on the MSME industry and the manufacturing industry in the Indian  market.

The meeting was presided over by the Union steel minister R.C.P Singh and the discussion was about the present status of the steel industry. 

To establish India as a major steel producing country in the world market by 2050 and the target was set accordingly during the meeting.

The members also discussed the need to make pollution free steel and be reduce emission of carbon dioxide in steel production. 

Major concerns such such as shortage of scrap effecting the production of steel in India was also discussed. (KNN Bureau)
