Ranchi, Jan 11 (KNN) In order to develop Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) at various locations within the state, Jharkhand government plans to rope in the private sector for effective upgradation, operation and management of the ITIs.

“Government of Jharkhand through Department of  Labour, Employment and Training (DoLET), has created several ITIs in the state and now for the purpose of this project intends to select suitable Private Sector Participant(s) for the Up gradation, Operation, Maintenance and Management of these ITIs (8 General ITIs and 5 Women’s ITIs) through Public Private Partnership,” said a notification.

The project envisages a scheme for development and running of 13 ITIs - 8 General ITIs and 5 Women’s ITIs at various locations on Public Private Partnership (PPP) basis.

Under the scheme, DoLET wants to partner with Educational Societies/ Trusts / Corporates to undertake development and running of such ITIs at various locations within the state, out of the stock of complete / almost complete ITI buildings, which it owns.

The selection is proposed to be effected through a transparent and competitive bidding process, based on prequalifying criteria and financial bids, through sealed tenders for which  the  advisory services of Jharkhand Infrastructure Development Corporation (JINFRA) were sought.

ITIs cater to the youth hailing from villages and small towns, belonging to the lower middle class / economically weaker sections of the society.

“The operationalization of ITIs in PPP format shall ensure promotion of quality vocational training in the State and enhancing employment and self-employment opportunities for the economically weaker sections in the Society,” the notification added.

At the same time, running of the ITIs on PPP format will help the government further in saving the additional capital expenditure and possible operational deficits.

In this context, DoLET has invited bids from private corporates to procure machinery and furniture, conduct classes and exams, maintain market and manage the institute(s) on PPP basis. (KNN Bureau/SD)
