Jute board invites consultants to study feasibility of new projects

Consultancy firms are required to study the techno-economic feasibility of the sponsored R&D projects and prepare the techno-commercial feasibility report / proposals for preparation of bankable project proposals for the technologies / products developed under Jute Technology Mission Mini Mission IV, an official notification said.
Technically qualified and financially sound consultancy firms with a minimum annual turnover of Rs two crore have been invited to bid.
The project which will be completed in six months from the award of the assignment and the delay might even put penalty at one per cent of the contract value per month for the first month and two per cent per month thereafter.
The jute sector occupies an important place in the Indian economy. It supports nearly four million farm families, besides providing direct employment to about 2.6 lakh industrial workers and livelihood to another 1.4 lakh persons in the tertiary sector and allied activities.
Thie industry contributes export earnings of nearly Rs 2000 crore annually.
India today has around 78 jute mills, located in West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Tripura and Chhattisgarh
The Indian Jute Industry today accounts for a turnover of Rs 6,500 crore annually, contributing to exports of nearly Rs 1000 crore. (KNN)
