Kerala govt distributes new machines to boost coir production

Alappuzha, Jul 10 (KNN) Kerala State Coir Machine Manufacturing Company (KSCMMC), a tate government initiative, has begun distribution of coir fibre extracting machinery to help boost coir production.
 
Machines manufactured at KSCMMC would cater to the demand from coir making units in Kerala which has been depending on other states for processed husk, Chairman of KSCMMC, D Sugathan has said.
 
Kerala has been depending on other states for processed husk. The situation would undergo a change once modern machines were inducted into the production process, he said.
 
The coir machinery manufacturing company has been able to make electronic ratts, apart from the coir machinery.
 
He also informed that a scheme for procurement of husk with the help of employees of coir manufacturing units is under way.
 
The machinery has been developed with the help of various agencies including the National Coir Research and Management Institute (NCRMI). The institute has been conducting studies for the development of new coir technologies. (KNN Bureau)
