Kerala govt for up gradation and modernization of ITIs

Thiruvananthapuram, April 28 (KNN) The Kerala Government is working on a plan for up gradation and modernization of the industrial training institutes (ITIs), which it intends, to bring them at par with global standards like ISO.
 
The project is being implemented by the Kerala Academy for Skills Excellence (KASE), special purpose vehicle mandated with the job of skill up gradation in the state.
 
The technical and financial details of the ITI up gradation scheme are being worked out with the help of private sector consultants.
 
Though Kerala registered a growth of 8.24 per cent in 2012-13, the state recorded the highest unemployment rate in the country in the category of larger states according to the latest Economic Review of Kerala.

According to the statistics, Kerala's unemployment rate is 7.4 per cent, which is much higher than the national average of 2.3 per cent. (KNN Bureau)
