Kerala to observe International COIR fair in October, more than 60 countries to come on board

New Delhi, Sept 26 (KNN) In a bid to attract interest as well as innovation in the COIR sector, Kerala will be observing the 7th edition of the annual International COIR Fair in October. Delegations from more than 60 countries are expected to participate in the event.

The 5-day International fair will take place from October 5 to 9th at the EMS stadium.

The prime focus of the fair includes discussions over coir composites, coir geotextiles and coir products.

Also there are scheduled sessions that would explore the application and usage of coir in the field of construction.  Product diversification and upgradation of technology in the coir industry will be other focus area that the event would look upon.

The fair is being organised by the Directorate of Coir Development, under the Ministry of Coir, Government of Kerala, with the help of Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India.

Coir or coconut fibre is a natural fibre extracted from the husk of coconut and used in making products including floor mats, doormats, brushes and mattresses. Coir is the fibrous material found between the hard, internal shell and the outer coat of a coconut. (KNN/ DA)
