Kohinoor Technical Institute launches vocational skilling centre in Sigra, Varanasi

Varanasi, Jan 14 (KNN)  Expanding its footprint in the north and into the 8th state in the country, Kohinoor Technical Institute (KTI) has launched its Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKV) Vocational Skilling Centre in Sigra here.
 
The Centre will offer courses across different trades and job roles and create employment opportunities across India for the local youth.  KTI is NSDC affiliated training partner and will train students in courses like fashion designing, electricals, retail, AC and refrigeration, telecom and mobile repairing, life skills, yoga, an official release said.
 
Speaking at the launch, KTI CEO and Director, Sameer Joshi said, “This is a moment of pride for KTI to be associated with people from Varanasi and UP. KTI is not only a pioneer but one of the most recognized vocational training institutes across India focused on bringing quality technical education within easy reach of those who want to learn a skill and earn their livelihood through employment or entrepreneurship.” 
 
The centre is equipped with the latest equipment for smart classrooms. It also has biometric attendance marking to ensure delivery of trainings.  In addition, there will be a separate counselling, mobilisation and placement cell.  It’s a unique and holistic learning model by combining, technical skills, soft skills and emotional skills through a unique combination of pedagogy.
 
The Centre will be a one-of-its kind model for the state of Uttar Pradesh. KTI plans to create this centre as a Hub-and-Spoke Model, which will create a reach across the state and provide benefits to a cross section of the population. KTI and the Ministry, along with NSDC will also plan Kaushal Vikas Melas in Varanasi for student mobilisation, the release said.
 
Key aspects of quality of vocational skilling at KTI centres are – best in class lab facilities with state of the art machines and equipment; courses are delivered with 70 per cent curriculum based on on-Job Training (OJT) and 30 per cent class room training; qualified faculty with industry work experience; supplement courses on personality development, yoga, English speaking ability; placement support; and special focus on building entrepreneurship.
 
As one of the leading partners of NSDC (National Skill Development Corporation), KTI is playing a vital role in enabling and mobilizing a large number of Indian youth to take up outcome-based skill training, gain employable skills and earn their livelihood. 
 
KTI’s Varanasi Vocational Skilling Centre is going to be operational in collaboration with local partners like DALIMSS Sunbeam Group of schools and U.P. Industrial Consultants Limited (UPICO).  The Centre is open for registration under PMVKY enrolments.  (KNN Bureau)
