KVIC seeks suppliers of fresh cotton bales and polyester

Bhopal, Sept 25 (KNN)  The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) is keen to buy cotton bales of different varieties and seasons for the Central Silver Plants in Sehore, 39 kms from the state capital, Rae Bareli in UP and Hajipur near Patna in Bihar.

The Centre also plans to buy fresh Polyester staple fibre for Sehore and Rae Bareli from the manufacturers.

In this context, KVIC had invited bids from suppliers earlier this month and now have extended the date of applying for the bids from September 27 to October 7.

The KVIC is in charge of the planning, promotion, organisation and implementation of programs for the development of Khadi and other village industries in the rural areas in coordination with other agencies engaged in rural development wherever necessary.

Its functions also comprise building up of a reserve of raw materials and implements for supply to producers; creation of common service facilities for processing of raw materials as semi-finished goods; and provisions of facilities for marketing of KVI products apart from organisation of training of artisans engaged in these industries and encouragement of co-operative efforts amongst them.  (KNN/SD)
