Mumbai, Feb 5 (KNN) In an effort to strengthen the Khadi sector, the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) plans to improve its institutional infrastructure.

It will soon refurbish khadi institutions by installing 8 spindle new model charkhas under Khadi Reform and Development Programme (KRDP).

Towards this, the commission has invited bids from Indian manufacturing companies, partnerships, proprietorship firms, khadi and village industries institutions to be service providers.

KVIC, through its various schemes is supporting khadi and village industries institutions and entrepreneurs in the production of khadi and various products of village industries.

One of the major activities under KRDP is to extend support for Khadi institutional reform under which assistance will be extended to the khadi institutions(KIs) for infrastructural augmentation particularly for replacing or fresh deployment of 8-spindle new model charkhas, looms, and other related machineries such as cone winding and warping unit thereby increasing production capacity.
