CSIR-CLRI Leads Sustainable Leather Innovation At IILF 2025

New Delhi, Feb 6 (KNN) The 38th India International Leather Fair (IILF) 2025 concluded successfully at the Chennai Trade Centre, marking three days of significant industry engagement from February 1-3.

The event showcased cutting-edge innovations in leather technology, with CSIR-Central Leather Research Institute (CLRI) taking centre stage through its comprehensive display of sustainable solutions.

CSIR-CLRI's exhibition highlighted advanced technologies across leather processing, chemical applications, product development, and waste management.

The institute unveiled its design sequence titled ‘Magic Moments Unite with Progressive Modernity to Create Tomorrow's Vibes,’ which demonstrated an innovative fusion of traditional craftsmanship with modern design elements, including asymmetric cuts, metallic accents, and digitally-inspired laser-cut patterns.

The institute also presented its Spring-Summer 2026 collection at the concurrent Designer Fair.

A key component of the fair was the Leather Research Industry Government (LERIG) Conclave, organized by CSIR-CLRI, which focused on specialty chemicals, sustainability practices, and carbon footprint assessment.

The event drew notable government officials, including Supriya Sahu, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary of Health & Family Welfare, Tamil Nadu Government, and Vimal Anand, IRS, Joint Secretary from the Ministry of Commerce & Industry.

The institute's pavilion attracted significant attention from high-ranking officials, with visits from E Srinivas, Joint Secretary, DPIIT, Sabiha Rizvi, Director of the Leather Section, DPIIT, and R Selvam IAS, ED CLE.

Dr K.J Sreeram, Director, CSIR-CLRI, provided detailed insights into the institute's research initiatives and technological developments during these interactions.

The strong attendance at CSIR-CLRI's exhibition space underscored the industry's growing interest in sustainable leather technologies and innovative solutions.

As the institute continues its role as a premier technology platform and educational hub, its participation in IILF 2025 reinforced its commitment to advancing excellence and innovation in India's leather sector.
