Gurgaon, Mar 9 (KNN) The city based small and medium auto component suppliers are happy over the huge business opportunity that they would get from Suzuki after its announcement to locally assemble its flagship Hayabusa super bike.

Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited (SMIPL), a subsidiary of one of the world's leading two-wheeler manufacturers, Suzuki Motor Corporation, Japan has begun assembly of its flagship motorcycle - the Suzuki Hayabusa - at a state of the art assembly line at its plant in Gurgaon, Haryana.

The end customer will benefit from this move as the Hayabusa shall be available at the Suzuki Big Bike Dealerships for INR 1,357,135 in March 2016.

Tutu Dhawan, the Auto Expert, told KNN the knocked down price of the super bike would definitely boost the demand in the market.

“The customers would be happy with the move to assemble bike locally because when the bike is totally imported the cost is too high,” Dhawan said.

He said that not many companies make bikes in India except few.

“The components would be local so there wouldn’t be any tax on it. There won’t be any compromise on quality as well because Suzuki is very particular about its quality control. The manufacturers will have to maintain the quality,” Dhawan said.

Meanwhile, the auto component industry is also quite optimistice about getting good business from the move.

Deepak Raheja, Adi Automotives Private Limited, told KNN, “It is a good move for the industry and we expect good business to come in from this.”

“When the big companies are set up here, the local industry definitely benefits. We already supply to Hero Moto, Maruti and their demand is quite good,” he said.

With the advent of the Make in India program, SMIPL are keen to support and strengthen this promising initiative to transform India into a global design and manufacturing hub, Suzuki said in a press release. (KNN Bureau)
