Made in India goods preferred over Made in China products this year: Bhartiya Udyog Vyapar Mandal

New Delhi, Oct 29 (KNN) With Diwali just a week away, the markets are flooded with consumers with sentiments much higher than the previous two years, however, this time the demand is much higher for the “Made in India” goods in comparison to the cheaper “Made in China” products.

The markets are flooded with more consumers as compared to last year and there is a huge demand of Indian products, Shyam Bihari Mishra, President, Bhartiya Udyog Vyapar Mandal cum a former BJP member of parliament said this while talking to KNN India.

He said that it is expected that the footfalls would further increase in another 2 to 3 days.

Talking about from past three years a “jagarukta abhiyan” is happening and the consumers are aware now. They want to buy Made in India products.

He said that there are many products from China in the market, but to the surprise of all, the demand is more for the Indian goods.

Green crackers are in huge demand, he said adding that all that has come from China are mostly avoided by the customers.

He opined that the market is showing a good sign towards a cleaner Diwali this time.

Last year the rates of goods were cheaper as compared to this year. GST has highly affected the prices due to which Chinese products are quite cheaper, said Mishra.

Meanwhile, Mishra pointed that as far as Diwali lights are concerned, China is still far ahead in this sector. The ratio is 20: 80 that is 20% lights of India are sold while 80% that of China.

He said that the reason behind this is that Chinese lights are cheaper and they keep coming up with new varieties ever year that attracts the customers.

He added that even if Indian manufacturers try to copy them, still China will have something new to offer.

Mishra said that ever since there has been a call to ignore lights and rather light diyas on the occasion of Diwali, many consumers are also buying home-made diyas.

The biggest change he feels is that consumer first asks about the product and then prefers buying Indian goods.

From last two years the market during the festive season was down. First it was demonetisation and then due to GST, but this time it has totally taken all the entrepreneurs to surprise as cheers can be heard in the markets again.
