Maha Khadi fest kicks off in Mumbai, branding-promoting the fabric on the agenda

New Delhi, Oct 9 (KNN) In order to encourage the sector by new means of marketing, branding as well as promoting, Maharashtra State Khadi & Village Industries Board (MSKVIB) recently launched the Maha Khadi festival in Mumbai in the presence of Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Giriraj Singh.

The prime focus of the event is to promote the sale of khadi in the state. The government is also conducting similar festival across the state.

The festival that stretches from October 9 to December along different timelines in different states, will showcase the wide variety of khadi products.

The Maharashtra State Khadi & Village Industries Board (MSKVIB)  also has plans to open at least one khadi outlet in each region of Maharashtra.

Apart from khadi, other products manufactured by rural entrepreneurs will also be put on sale through these outlets during the festival.

Earlier, MSME Minister Giriraj Singh informed that in the recent times, khadi has registered upward trend.

Citing number, the Minister informed that in the year 2014-15 the production of khadi stood at 879.98 crore rupees in terms of its market value, which increased to 1065.60 crore rupees in 2015-16. The production further accelerated to over 31 per cent amounting to 1395.94 crore rupees. (KNN/ DA)
