DPIIT Secretary Reviews Innovation Ecosystem And Industrial Infrastructure In Karnataka
Bengaluru, Aug 4 (KNN) A high-level delegation led by Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) Secretary Amardeep Singh Bhatia conducted a comprehensive review of Karnataka's innovation ecosystem and industrial infrastructure development this week.
The delegation included CEO and Managing Director of NICDC Rajat Kumar Saini, DPIIT Director, and the Head of Startup India.
The delegation's first stop was the K-tech MeitY Nasscom Centre of Excellence for IoT & AI in Bengaluru, where officials engaged with startup founders and incubation leaders to assess the local innovation landscape.
The Centre of Excellence, recognised as India's largest deep tech innovation hub, serves as a collaborative platform connecting startups, innovators, enterprises, academia, and government agencies to address real-world challenges through advanced technologies including IoT, AI, Data Science, Big Data, AR/VR, Machine Learning, and Robotics.
During interactions at the centre, the delegation explored how emerging technologies could accelerate development in manufacturing, logistics, and urban solutions sectors.
The visit was designed to identify policy support opportunities that could further stimulate growth within the innovation ecosystem.
Following an Investors Roundtable Conference in Bengaluru, Secretary Bhatia conducted a detailed assessment of the Tumakuru Industrial Area, a flagship initiative under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme (NICDP).
The review covered critical project milestones, including Phase A development spanning 1,736 acres, advancement of internal roads, drainage systems, and utility corridors, along with investor support initiatives.
A meeting with key contractors provided updates on construction progress and deliverable timelines. Larsen & Toubro, serving as the EPC contractor, and HaskoningDHV, the PMC contractor, presented detailed progress reports and committed to accelerating work completion to ensure land allotment to industries begins by year-end as scheduled.
Secretary Bhatia emphasised the importance of meeting planned targets while maintaining quality standards to position Tumakuru Industrial Area as an attractive destination for both global and domestic investment across electronics, automotive, clean technology, and logistics sectors.
The delegation's itinerary also included visits to Foxconn Hon Hai Technology India Mega Development Pvt. Ltd. and the Devanahalli Aerospace Special Economic Zone, followed by a tour of Dynamatic Technologies, a prominent aerospace components manufacturer.
These facility tours provided insights into advanced manufacturing capabilities, precision engineering processes, and India's expanding role in the global aerospace supply chain.
