Drone Manufacturer Optiemus Unmanned Systems to Invest Rs 140 Cr in Expansion

New Delhi, Jul 8 (KNN) In a significant move set to bolster India's drone manufacturing sector, Optiemus Unmanned Systems, a subsidiary of electronics contract manufacturer Optiemus Infra, has announced plans to invest Rs 140 crore in expanding its drone manufacturing capabilities.

The investment aims to enhance the company's capacity to offer drone services across various industries, including agriculture, mapping, and related sectors. Ashok Gupta, chairman of Optiemus Unmanned Systems, revealed the company's ambitious strategy to increase local production of drone components, reported TOI.

"We are on track to achieve 75 per cent indigenisation by the end of this fiscal year," Gupta stated, underlining the firm's commitment to the government's 'Make in India' initiative.

The expansion comes at a time when the drone industry in India is experiencing rapid growth, driven by increasing demand from both public and private sectors. Gupta emphasised the company's readiness to capitalise on this trend, saying, "We are set to leverage our expertise in drone technology to offer a cost-effective and efficient solution for agricultural and defence needs."

This move by Optiemus Unmanned Systems is expected to create new job opportunities and contribute to the development of a robust drone ecosystem in India. It also aligns with the government's push for self-reliance in critical technologies and could potentially reduce the country's dependence on imported drone systems.

The company's expansion is likely to be closely watched by industry observers and could set a precedent for other manufacturers in the sector.
