India’s Industrial Production Grows 6.7% In Nov 2025, Led By Manufacturing Surge: Govt Data

New Delhi, Dec 29 (KNN) India’s Index of Industrial Production (IIP) recorded a 6.7 per cent year-on-year growth in November 2025, driven primarily by strong performance in the manufacturing sector, according to the latest Quick Estimates released on December 28. 

This marks a sharp recovery from the 0.4 per cent growth reported in October 2025.

Sectoral Performance

Manufacturing, the largest contributor to industrial output, grew 8.0 per cent, led by basic metals, pharmaceuticals, and motor vehicles. 

The mining sector rebounded with 5.4 per cent growth, supported by the end of the monsoon season and strong output of metallic minerals like iron ore. 

The electricity sector, however, contracted by 1.5 per cent.

Within manufacturing, 20 of the 23 industry groups recorded positive growth in November 2024, with the leading contributors being basic metals, which grew by 10.2 per cent driven by MS slabs, HR coils and sheets, and alloy steel products; pharmaceuticals, which expanded by 10.5 per cent led by digestive enzymes, veterinary vaccines, and anti-psychotic drugs; and motor vehicles, which saw an 11.9 per cent increase supported by auto components, commercial vehicles, and passenger cars.

Use-Based Classification

The Quick Estimate for November 2025 is 158.0, compared with 148.1 in November 2024. 

Based on the use-based classification, the key contributors to IIP growth were infrastructure and construction goods, which rose by 12.1 per cent, consumer durables with a 10.3 per cent increase, and intermediate goods, which grew by 7.3 per cent. 

In November 2025, the indices stood at 150.7 for primary goods with 2.0 per cent growth, 117.8 for capital goods growing 10.4 per cent, 170.1 for intermediate goods at 7.3 per cent growth, 198.7 for infrastructure and construction goods up 12.1 per cent, 134.0 for consumer durables increasing 10.3 per cent, and 169.7 for consumer non-durables with 7.3 per cent growth.
